dangerous dwellings

aa summermake 2014

In this two week intensive design and build course I was part of an international team of students exploring the concept of ‘Dangerous Dwellings.’ Our final design was a cluster of timber tetrahedrons, made of unprocessed logs from the Hooke Park estate, developed through a series of 1:50 maquettes and 1:1 models of the joinery.

The intervention was prefabricated in Hooke’s workshop with each tetrahedron constructed, then taken outside where the four modules were moved into position and bolted together. Once assembled, the structure was transported to site and hoisted into the canopy; suspended over a gorge, the only access was by a fragile woven bridge.
